Hello

History has always fascinated me. From following an individual's story or seeing how a place changed and developed over time. Also, how national events affect people and the places where they lived.

I have researched my own family history and have enjoyed following my ancestors' stories. I have a BA in History, and an M A in Historical Research; as a qualified archivist, I have worked for national and local archives, with over 20 years’ experience of helping others with their family history and research. I am a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and adhere to their code of practice.

I have worked in Public Record Offices. I am a qualified archivist, so I understand about keeping records and how catalogues and indexing systems work. I have catalogued many different types of records that are now are part of online search systems, which people use to locate the records they need for their own research. One of my first roles was researching property history for a local planning authority. It showed me how places can change and develop over time and gave me a unique understanding of my local area.

When I’m not exploring the past, I can be found in my garden. I love watching things grow. However, as many gardeners will tell you there are some plants that grow brilliantly and other that don’t want to grow at all. My garden has many different types of flowers and vegetables which my family and friends enjoy.
